Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated The Eras Tour kicked off last weekend in Glendale, Arizona (aptly dubbed Swift City for the week by the local government). The career-spanning setlist is matched with costumes that are the perfect tribute to her on-stage style throughout the eras – from collaborations with her favorite designers (including a plethora of Louboutins, and custom Oscar de la Renta and Roberto Cavalli), to outfits reminiscent of her past tours and music videos (the custom ball gown she wears during Enchanted is a lovely throwback to the Valentino ball gown worn on the Speak Now Tour). Each era is given its own fitting costume, which is either a throwback to the styles of that era, or reflects the music and aesthetic of her later albums that have never been played live before.
Almost every outfit, however, is matched with a pair of Louboutins – the iconic red sole is fitting for Taylor, as the color has been synonymous with her image for over a decade. The Eras Tour fashion is a huge treat for Swifties who have been watching Taylor’s style develop throughout her career and are able to notice every throwback and Easter egg hidden in her outfits. Let’s deep dive into the costumes for each of the eras, shall we?
Lover

The custom Versace bodysuit Taylor opens the show with, is giving full mermaid-core, with the shimmering pastels reflecting the romantic dreaminess of the Lover album. The extreme glamor of the costume, paired with sparkly knee-highs, tells us that this is a pop icon at the height of her performing career. Later in this section, Taylor dons a glittery blazer to play The Man which I HOPE will soon become a wardrobe staple for us all.
Fearless

Taylor’s Roberto Cavalli Fearless fit was made for the OG Swifties. This sparkly tassel dress is almost exact to the ones she wore throughout her Fearless Tour and the outfit is even paired with nostalgic guitar twirls and hand hearts.
Evermore

Taylor then switches to a long, flowy Etro dress to perform 5(!!) songs from Evermore. This dress perfectly encapsulates the woody, down-to-earth, bohemian feel of the album and fits with its timeless nature.
Reputation

It wouldn’t be the Reputation era without a snake and I was SO glad to see red ones crawling up this one-legged Roberto Cavalli bodysuit. A special nod here goes to the dancers dressed in the old Taylor outfits for Look What You Made Me Do!
Speak Now

Despite only playing Enchanted from her self-written third album, Taylor’s Speak Now outfit made a huge impact. Fans have been loving how reminiscent this is of her Speak Now Tour finale dress, and how well it fits with the fairytale theming of the record.
Red

Taylor kicks off the Red era in a recreation of her 22 music video outfit – but this time the shirt, rightfully, states that there actually IS a lot going on at the moment. And I would be amiss to not mention how obsessed I am with this sparkly red and black trench coat that Taylor wears to play All Too Well (10 minute version, of course). It’s giving sad girl fall in the coolest, sparkliest way.
Folklore

If you’ve been on TikTok in the past week, you’ve probably seen the Folklore tour Taylor x Daisy Jones mashups – and rightfully so. This floaty purple dress pairs perfectly with the airy instrumentals and cottage core ‘70s dream girl aesthetics of the Folklore era.
1989

A nod to her Shake It Off tour outfit, and 1989 Taylor’s relentless obsession with crop tops, this is the perfect costume for the 1989 section of the show. It’s fun, sparkly and pure main pop girl.
Surprise song/Debut era

Taylor wears another long, floaty dress for her acoustic set where she plays the night’s surprise song and may-or-may-not play the only song in the show from her debut album. There’s nothing else to say other than how great this dress looks as she swims back up to the main stage.
Midnights

The first of Taylor’s Midnights outfits is this sparkly t-shirt dress and furry coat. The purple furry coat is now synonymous with Lavender Haze, and I love how the iridescent sparkles pair with it.
After perhaps the best outfit change of the night, Taylor finishes the show in a custom Oscar de la Renta dress and sparkly fringe jacket. This outfit feels like peak pop Taylor, and the navy blue is the perfect color to represent the Midnights era. Also, I need these jackets to become a thing!
