Pursuing your passion isn’t always easy, the journey can be full of ups and downs, twists and turns but that shouldn’t make it any less worth traveling. There are times along the way you may question and doubt yourself, but perseverance is key because the road leads to beautiful destinations and a newfound resilience – something Sinead Harnett knows all too well.

Making her break in the early 2010s, the British female singer-songwriter has been showcasing her soulful sound for the last decade including collaborating with the likes of Rudimental and Disclosure. She released a number of EPs before her debut album Lessons in Love was released in 2019 which included the breakout single If You Let Me. While many artists struggle with the “second-album syndrome”, Sinead’s follow up Ready is Always Too Late saw her realize her self-worth and put her on the map as a rising R&B star! It’s a masterclass in how nurturing your craft, practicing self-love and celebrating yourself moves you forward in the right direction.
Through soothing R&B rhythms and faultless harmonies, Sinead pours her heart into her music, capturing her personal experiences of life, love and heartbreak. The soul-tinged tracklist exudes authenticity and vulnerability and truly cements her as a talented artist, something that Sinead says took time. At the beginning of her career as she was starting in the industry, she says she didn’t really know who she was, she just knew she loved music. People steered her in directions they thought she should be going. “I didn’t listen enough to my own voice, I just got more lost and more diluted”, Sinead explained.
Over the years she struggled with self-doubt and suffered with ‘imposter syndrome’, asking herself if she was good enough to be an artist. A bad break up spurred her debut album Lessons in Love which allowed her to trust herself as a writer as the emotions poured out on the page. It’s a deeply personal album, taking listeners through a pinnacle time in her life and her learning to love herself again after heartbreak.

When the world came to a stop due to the global pandemic, Sinead found herself in the US working on her sophomore album.
“You’re not told in this industry you need to keep loving yourself, keep being yourself and keep pushing”
With the added time to focus on finding herself and embracing her newfound confidence, Sinead put pen to paper to write her second album Ready Is Always Too Late. The growth and evolution from her debut is apparent, tracks such as Where You Been Hiding and Last Love embody celebrating yourself and your experiences.
“(The album is)… called Ready Is Always Too Late’ because I’m not using ready as an excuse anymore and neither should anyone, the time is now, go get your flowers, that’s what I’m doing”, Sinead said.
True greatness takes time and not giving up on your dreams and aspirations when you feel like you’re not good enough shouldn’t be an option. Shifting her mind-set and honing her passion has Sinead ready to rise to the top. She wants to become “an artist of her time” and “help heal the world” through music. So what’s stopping you from pursuing your passion?
