Uniting For Justice: When women come together

When you think about the word woman, what does it signify? Raw power and determination or constant misogynistic wars and daily battles. Probably both. There is so much misconception in society and to be honest, the media does help in certain ways, but then doesn’t at all. They amplify current issues but often create false imagery and scenarios of what should be. So whenever possible, it is important to speak up and highlight the truth.

Recently, women had to face familiar challenges, especially looking at the progression in history. There is currently a direct attack on our bodily rights and our right to speak up, whenever our opinions differ from the likeness of others; for example those in power. It stands to reason that despite everything we fight for, we have to fight harder to maintain it, which many can agree is tiring. However, it isn’t all bad. If there is one thing that current issues have taught us, it is that we all have the ability to support and empower each other. It’s quite magnificent to watch actually and it is a powerful movement in itself. Imagine what we could achieve when we start working together more often. It’s heartwarming, seeing thousands – if not millions – of women come together to fight current issues, such as a direct assault on women’s rights, like the overturning of Roe v. Wade. We’ve all seen a significant movement, by witnessing women around the world opening up their homes to help American women through these troubling times.

Powerful women are coming together to try and protect bodily, human and reproductive health care rights for women and anyone who has the ability to conceive. We even see more and more women participating in the Women’s March and it is clear to see that times are really changing. This new generation of women who has risen up in a way that simply can’t be ignored, continues to stand strong, to stay united and to fight back; despite everything that is thrown at them.

We all have the ability to make a difference and to empower other women. Simply telling your own story can often help, or even inspire others to speak up. If we stand up today, it might give other women the courage to do the same. It is so important to remind ourselves, how we have fought major battles over and over again for the past centuries, yet the moment we unite, that is when we truly take on the hardest of challenges. We overcome them, and we win. We have so much power and we need to use it for the greater good. To our sisters around the world, let’s stand together and win these wars. We are the many.
