There are many wonderful things in this world and one of them is being female. Despite all the obstacles and battles against our rights as women, we face these issues head on and fight like joyful warriors every day. We always end up showing the world how bright we can shine. More recently, we have seen a whole generation of empowering women rise up to tackle these battles head on and give so many a chance to be heard. They are shaping the future to be one we can all benefit from.
One of these exceptional women is the one and only Yara Shahidi. Being only 22 years old, she has already accomplished so much. Not only is she an incredible actress, but she is also an inspiring activist. She has worked tirelessly to pave the way for other women and inspire them to speak up and make themselves heard loud and clear. Just last year, Yara joined the #DiorStandsWithWomen campaign. This gave her an opportunity to speak up and share her own inspirational story. During this campaign, she said “so many young women aren’t given the space to feel heard consistently”, and Yara is more than right. Women are too often overlooked, taken for granted and have felt like they are not being heard. However, thanks to incredible women such as Yara Shahidi, many discovered a new-found sense of power and belonging in modern day society and now feel like anything can be possible.
Yara has worked incredibly hard to give other women access to their fundamental rights, rights that have been threatened for centuries. In the hopes of giving other women a chance to vote, Yara decided to Co-found “Eighteen x 18”. This will benefit thousands of women across America, especially with the Midterm Elections coming up at the end of this year. Thanks to her, so many will finally be able to vote for the first time and show the world the kind of power they really have. When it comes to voting, we must all have a clear understanding on what we are fighting for. Being the well-prepared woman Yara is, she took it upon herself to create a system where online-mentorship is available to everyone, in the hopes of ending poverty through education. This is something that should be put in place, not only for the United States, but the entire world.
Throughout all the amazing things Yara has accomplished, she caught Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s eye, who ended up writing a letter of recommendation to Harvard University, which Yara is set to successfully graduate from, this year. It is important to remember that this is living proof that – whatever you do in life – often requires a lot of hard work and dedication. It isn’t always easy, however, it will all work out in the end.
The real lesson life has to offer is to dream big, but work hard. If you put the work in you will be rewarded. Ever since Yara was a young child, she has done nothing but chase her dreams and goals. If she has pushed boundaries, then so can we. Nothing is impossible, if you put the work into it. Remember to think big, work hard and inspire others. We all have the power to make a real and better change to the world as we know it.
