You may have heard of Emma Watson. As Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies or advocating for important political issues such as women’s rights and gender equality. Either way, she has made a powerful name for herself and here’s why.
Emma Watson is someone who’s been described as an “outspoken feminist”. She always stood up for what she believed in most. Throughout her life she has fought tirelessly for women’s rights, as well as fighting for girls to be educated and supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Emma has had incredible successes during her career, becoming a UN women goodwill ambassador to Uruguay in 2014 being just one example. Her and other ambassadors advocate for things such as Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.

Amongst fighting for women’s rights, Emma has also donated to charities across the world such as “Times Up UK”, as well as helping with the launch of a legal helpline where information is provided to those in need. Throughout all of this, she has given so many women the chance to obtain justice and the chance to be heard. This has inspired many who thought their voices were lost – to speak up loud and clear. She is what many would describe as an icon. If we as a society are planning to move forward, it’s important that women aren’t left behind.
“They [women] are all actual superstars who are quite literally making the world a better place”. Emma stated and she is more than right.
Emma believes that the gender balance in leadership positions is “incomprehensible” as she said at the COP26 summit. Earlier this year she was one of 400 signatories that was in a letter calling for the UK government to include women in “decision-making roles” at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. There is only one known woman who has been appointed to the senior team. It’s about time that changes.

Emma Watson is a powerhouse and is making her voice heard everywhere. She brings hope and change to millions of women across the world and is someone who is for the people; a role model for many, especially for our young leaders. And as Emma once said:
“Women and girls have always faced hurdles. But that’s never stopped us. We’ve sacrificed, fought, campaigned, succeeded, been knocked back, and succeeded again. In a race for justice, we’ve leapt over countless obstacles to win our rights.”
We are all fighting for a narrative we can stand behind. This isn’t just our future, it’s the future for generations to come. After all, we are all outspoken feminists.
