A Fashion Recap

Each year we are fortunate enough to witness new designers launching their work and the industry’s legends to share their newest season favorites at fashion weeks all around the world. Even for those who aren’t professional fashionistas, it’s nice to see what they have to offer. Colorful clothing, statement bags and high-end shoes; we’ve seen it all this year. We wanna look back at some of our favorite pieces.

Versace’s Medusa Aevitas have turned the fashion world upside down. The platforms with a towering block heel and small ankle strap surely are a high statement worn by known women like Dua Lipa, Winnie Harlow, Ariana Grande, Bebe Rexha and even Queen B to just name a few. No wonder they are entirely sold out. And the name “Medusa Aevitas” could not be more appropriate: the Latin word “aevitas” refers to the immortality that these platform heels have already achieved this fall. What a successful comeback drawing the world’s attention to its elegancy in black, fuchsia, yellow, lilac and red.

And then there are Prada’s shoulder bags that have become a fashion staple everyone dreams to have. 2021 marked the revival of the Nylon Prada Bag and defined the world of fashion; the trend being still on the rise. Shoulder bags worn by numerous fashion icons have become indispensable as fashion accessories. The sophisticated Prada Cleo bag is a reinterpretation of the brand’s iconic 1990s design. Brushed leather, a modern and versatile material is typical of Prada’s collections and ensures exciting new combinations and contrasts. The enameled triangular Prada logo graces the silhouette.

While Prada has been a part of the industry for quite a while now, we have to open our eyes to discover the new generation’s exceptional work. Nensi Dojaka – a young talented designer of Albanian origin – is taking the fashion world by storm. In her designs, she draws strong inspiration from the aesthetics of the 90s, experimenting with both transparent fabrics and asymmetrical shapes. Nensi Dojaka offers a new look at modern femininity. Bella Hadid teleported Dojaka into stardom after wearing one of her designs to the 2020 VMA’s. Everybody seems to love the designer’s exceptionally well-fitting pieces that fit like a second skin and reveal just enough, but never too much. Her black draped silk mini dress embodies all that.

Another female powerhouse in fashion is Emma Brewin, the A-list’s go-to for fluffy hats. Her cozy creations include favorites of Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski. Emma Brewin specializes in fur hats that are pleasing to the eye and loved by some of the most fashionable people in the world. Bucket hats are now trendy winter accessories that not only protect but also look super stylish. Emma Brewin’s green pistachio bucket hat meets all the requirements for the cold season and looks stylish as well.

Since we’re talking about stylish pieces, open cardigans on bare skin – the fashion trend. “front tie top”, “lace up top” and “pin top” are some of the most searched fashion pieces. The idea originated in the 90s and refers to open cardigans, closed only above the sternum and preferably using a pin with a designer’s name on it. Now that idea is being taken further by designers like Jacquemus and Cult Gaia. “La maille Pralù cardigan” by French designer Jacquemus became the most demanded cardigan and was the initial foundation for many other designs.

Well, there you have it. As you can see, this year had a bit to offer fashion-wise. Not everyone is into colorful statement clothing or accessories or can afford high-end fashion by the most famous designers. And yet, it is nice to see the industry evolve, surprise us and inspire not only customers and passengers walking past window displays, but the future generations of new designers and fashionistas. Besides, doesn’t it bring us such great joy seeing more and more women succeed in an industry that is so powerful all around the world? To all the Cinderellas still working in their basements, hoping to make it one day: We got the power, we always had it. You got this girls!
