Described by her mum as independent, caring and strong, Elena Ora is more than just Rita Ora’s sister. Ten years ago they started building an empire side by side and have paved the way ever since. Today, we are celebrating Elena’s 33rd birthday. And what better way to do that than talk about her journey to success and how she herself has inspired the next generation of female entrepreneurs.
In a 2016 released TED talk, Elena Ora talked about their rise to stardom and how to build a brand. Minding her own business, she was studying political theory. When Rita decided to pursue music she jumped on the train not knowing what’s gonna come out of it. Newly starting out musically & professionally, and building an empire from scratch is truly remarkable. Today, Elena doesn’t just manage and supervise media relations, but is Rita’s protective shield, trust person and biggest supporter.
Born in Kosovo, the sisters have always proudly represented their heritage and helped put in on the map. Their success has not just opened doors for the Ora sisters, but has shown that you can indeed make it in a highly competitive industry with less resources and no prior experience. All it takes is someone who believes in you, willing to support and guide you. You have to trust your own power & gift you want to share with the world. Being in the public eye is not for the faint of heart & can jeopardize your mental health. Tabloid media plays a huge part in that, so it is even more important to have faith in the people you work with and their fast ability to turn negative media outbursts around.
Working closely with Elena myself, I have not just seen a fierce manager, but have witnessed her be the protective sister she is. While Rita has become a well-known woman and household name in the music and entertainment industry, you can not forget the important role Elena has played to make sure her voice is heard. And that surely goes far beyond her vocal ability. Rita has given her fans a safe space they can escape to when pressing play on her music. You have to be determined to get to where you wanna be even when your capability to succeed is being doubted. Getting to know Elena, I sensed that strong will to do anything in her power to get through to the other side and reach higher stars. And she has not just done a lot for Rita, I have learned a few great things from her myself. When I was in a place of questioning my abilities and second guessing myself, Elena helped me find my way back to the self-confidence I abandoned. She told me that even if I’m not where I wanna be just yet, I have to start somewhere. It got me going. Outsiders often aren’t aware of Elena’s input, but from our perspective we can see a sister’s power you shouldn’t underestimate and rather value for what it is. She isn’t just Rita Ora’s manager.
